Dog training and breeding has been a part of my life since I was a small child. My father is a wonderful, highly experienced dog trainer for over 40 years. My mother has been breeding and participating in AKC dog shows for over 38 years. For myself dog training and breeding has been a passion of mine and have more than 30 years of experience. I started this website because as I was looking for my forever companion I realized how hard it is to acquire the necessary information from breeders. If the dams and sires live in the facility or home, if there has been any known health problems, age, weight, etc? Also, many websites are fakes, or fraudulant websites that promise a Pomeranian small puppy for a lower cost but never receive their companion. I wished when I was looking for my baby that there would be a breeder like myself that have the mom and dad who live with me and are spoiled like crazy, can answer all questions a new owner may have, and can help along the way.

Crate training is a great way to keep your small puppy safe and gives your little one their own place that is theirs. It also teaches good habits when potty training. Also, it helps puppies gain independence. If they get used to sleeping in bed with you its a hard habit to break. Just like human babies when they get used to sleeping in bed with mom and dad that initial transition can be extremely loud and frustrating for everyone in the family. With small 8–12-week-old puppies I usually set an alarm 4 hours after bedtime then I take them outside or on their potty pad until they do their business and then CELEBRATE them!!! This shows your puppy that this is good behavior and then put them back in their crate until the early morning potty session. This expedites the potty-training process and builds self-confidence and a safe place for your new puppy.
Ok, so when I tell people I have 4 Pomeranian adult dogs that live in my home I get the same question very often. "Don't they bark a lot"? I tell everyone the same thing. Raising any dog breed is like parenting human children especially in the toddler or "terrible two's" phase. Think of when you are in a store shopping and you see a child screaming at the top of their lungs, but their parents do not tell the child that this is unacceptable behavior. So, the child continues to do this in hopes that they will get their way. However, if a parent addresses the child in that instant and tells them this is not acceptable behavior and will not get whatever they were screaming for; they soon realize that good behavior next time may warrant that toy they wanted so badly. Dogs are the same way. If you allow them to bark, or are not consistent with showing them that this is not acceptable behavior in the same instant they will continue to do it again and again. When my Poms are young, I do this consistently and right away so they learn very quickly that this is not allowed. I have flown over 30 flights with my Poms and I get more than 10 people on that flight that will comment they had no idea a dog was even on the plane. They also go to work with my every day and many patients do not even know they are in the office. They do not make a peep. Being consistent is the key. If they continue even after I have told them NO (in a demanding, authoritative voice) then I put them in their crate (as a time out), tell them NO again and set the timer for 15 mins and increase the time as they get older. When the timer goes off, I pick them up and tell them again NO BARKING but then give them love and affirmations to continue to build their confidence but also show I am the alpha in the household.
Yes, Pomeranians do like to follow their favorite family members basically everywhere, including the bathroom so if you have like your quiet time be sure to distract them quickly and shut the door :). They are big time lovers and like to be in the same room with their family. To curb this habit their crate is a great way to do this. From the time they are small they get used to their crate as their comfort zone and safe place. If their crate has their favorite blanket and toy, they will go in there to take naps throughout the day and relax. Now, here is the secret. Place their crate (comfort zone) in a different room that you do not spend most of your time. This will give you both the happy medium that you might be looking for if you do not want an additional shadow 100% of the time. Personally, I do not mind it, but every owner/Pomeranian family dynamic will be different and that is okay. Find what works for you.
